Humidifier or Dehumidifier

Do you live in the Toms RIver area during extreme cold weather? Humidifier vs Dehumidifier

• A humidifier adds moisture to air while a dehumidifier takes moisture away from the air inside a room.
• While humidifiers work by blowing water vapor inside the room either after boiling or using ultrasonic waves, dehumidifier makes moisture to deposit in the form of droplets on cold tubes made cold using a compressor.
• Both need periodic cleaning to avoid health hazards posed by bacteria and molds and algae.

When the weather is cold, we close the windows and turn up the heat. This is bad news for our comfort and our health.

Single Room Humidifiers VS. Whole House

Single room tabletop humidifiers are by far the most common. They are relatively cheap, and easy to install.

Whole house humidifiers are a lot more complicated, and need to be installed by a professional. They are connected to the central heating system, usually the furnace, from where the humidified air can be pumped around the rest of the building. Obviously, this method is only suited to certain types of heating system. The main advantage is that there will be less maintenance as they are usually connected directly to the water system in the building and do not need to be manually refilled. Also, the system will be out of sight and will not take up any space in your rooms. The main disadvantage is that you have less control over the humidity of individual rooms. Some rooms are naturally more humid than others, but with a whole house system all rooms are treated the same.

Some people even and go as far as to say that having several single room table top humidifiers is actually a better solution, as you have more control over the humidity of each room. Or maybe you only need to humidify one room? In which case, anything bigger would be silly.
