The Weil McLain Ultra is a condensing gas boiler that continuously monitors and adjusts to the most comfortable air and heating rates. This furnace is Energy Star rated with an AFUE between 92 and 93.3% for regular conditions and 98% for conditions related to low temperatures. It is a two-stage induced draft boiler that has what Weil-McLain call "integrated PhD (Precision Hydronic Data) Technology", a system that "initiates efficient and ongoing hydronic heating". The design of the Weil McLain Ultra gas boiler is CSA certified.

The Weil McLain Ultra gas boiler has an upflow, downflow, or horizontal airflow, depending on where the unit is placed within the home and the measurements of the living space. Some of the models in the series and similar series are distinguished by their min/max CSA MBH capacity:
- Ultra 80: 16/80 MBH
- Ultra 105: 21/105 MBH
- Ultra 155: 31/155 MBH
- Ultra 230: 46/230 MBH
- Ultra 310: 62/310 MBH
Warranty
Weil McLain boilers have a 15-year limited warranty on residential models with a 5-year "ultra" protection plan (HPP). The limited warranty on commercial models is 15 years, without the "ultra" protection plan.
